Head Recycle System released the first pilot system in December 2019. It is implemented at a new 150-apartment site in Oulu in co-operation with Rakennusteho, a Finnish building company.
Necto Sorter is located at the housing company’s waste point, where it is integrated with the existing waste collection. It identifies the waste and re-sorts and crushes it into the right container. The clean plastic is then sent for further handling and reuse.
The plastic waste bin contains a computer that recognises the waste entering the bin and sorts it accordingly.
Head Recycle Systems focuses on developing plastic waste handling automation by adapting high technology applications, such as artificial intelligence.
The equipment was produced in cooperation with technology experts in Oulu, such as VTT, Spectral Engine and Oulu University of Applied Sciences.
